A new survey of people who run their own small businesses has found that the majority feel optimistic about the prospects for their companies this year, despite new lockdown restrictions.
This survey was carried out by the Great British Entrepreneur Awards and Starling Bank, and it saw them speak to 500 owners of small firms. Of these, 70% stated that they are confident about the upcoming year, with the primary reason for this being the expectation of most people being vaccinated against COVID-19, which will allow the country to get back to normal.
However, although the prospect of the vaccine freeing the UK from the worst pandemic restrictions was the main cause for optimism, the survey also found that many of the owners of small businesses who were feeling positive were ones who had responded to the crisis by setting up or developing their online operations.
One example of this is Caribe Coffee Company co-founder Ellie Carcamo. According to Elite Business Magazine, she stated that her company had shifted all of its operations on to the internet, before adding:
“We were very well prepared to move online. Our excellent service, fast and fun engagement, and fantastic coffee meant that all of our face to face customers followed us.”
Carcamo went on to say that the company would go on growing its digital operations even once the lockdown ends.
Many business owners decide that an accountant for small business in Goole or wherever they are located can help them put plans in place to deal with events like this pandemic.
