A mobile app created to provide easy access to legal advice for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been expanded to cater for consumers as well.

This app is called Legal Utopia, and the Legal Checker service included within it enables users to get clarification about over 400,000 common legal issues. SMEs across the country have been making use of this service since the app launched, which includes thousands of pages containing detailed advice on legal matters, 24,000 law-related FAQs and more than 5,000 legal documents.

The expanded version will still feature these vital resources, but will also enable those who download it to locate a lawyer qualified to deal with whatever business problem they have and book an appointment with them. Among the matters that business owners have been using Legal Utopia for are those related to the UK’s exit from the EU and the pandemic.

Lawtech UK Director Jennifer Swallow told Legal Futures that:

“Dealing with legal problems should be as easy as using an iPhone app. Legal Utopia offers exactly this, helping regular people and businesses get support.”

SMEs are able to subscribe to the app for a year for £60, while individuals have the option of the yearly subscription or a £9.99 monthly fee. However, some of its features – including the lawyer finder and those connected to government services – are available for free.

This makes it sound like an excellent addition to existing SME resources and services, such as accountants in Goole and other places that supply tailored financial advice.
